BUYING USED STRAPPING MACHINES...
CAN ENTAIL SOME RISK, BUT SOME SOURCES ARE ASSOCIATED WITH INCREASED PROBABILITY THAT THINGS WILL GO WRONG so a good 'first consideration' has to be 'Who is offering them?'
Ebay buyers have to exercise more caution as the bulk of the machines on offer are presented by individuals or organisations with little or no in depth knowledge of this type of equipment - and they are easy to spot.
Check type of EBAY seller.
Simply look at what other items are being offered for sale and it can quickly be established if they are general merchants that 'sell a bit of this - a bit of that', whatever they can pick up from wherever.
Description of the strapping machine.
Next look closely at the description of the strapping machine being offered.
Commonly seen descriptions include ' Was working a year ago' - 'unable to test - no strap' - 'was working when removed'
'Control Panel Lights up' ...and don't be misled by a detailed description, spec sheets etc but no actual confirmation statement regarding working status' all of which generally means NOT WORKING!
- Always ask to see video of machine working - reputable traders will do this..
Then look at the collection arrangements:
Are they happy to palletise the strapping machine for collection by Carrier, do they have the means to lift the strapping machine onto a vehicle.... if not it further gives some indication of the type of organisation offering it for sale. Your choice, your money, your risk.
Then consider what help the seller can give in the event the strapping machine requires attention... or is it possible they WILL loose all interest in strapping machine and buyer once in receipt of your cash.
Most buyers would be happier to minimize the risk of ending up 'with egg on face' by buying strapping machines from a Company whose business is strapping machines because it's logical - sensible - and is likely to result in a less costly outcome.
It's called peace of mind!
